Northeast Regional Cuisine
The primary regional cuisine of the Northeast Region is the Cuisine of New England. Connecticut, Maine, Massachusettes, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont are the six states which serve this cuisine.
New England Cuisine has cultivated from its original colonial roots, which used cooking methods which were both practical and frugal. Some popular dishes in the New England Cuisine include "One Pot" dishes, such as succotash and chowder. Seafood, such as sea scallops, little neck clams, blue mussels and oysters are popular ingredients in New England cooking. Lobsters, which are indigenous to the area, are also very popular. Several varieties of apples and cranberries are also indigenous to the area and often used in New England cooking.
